New Government Changes May 2022

Transporting goods in Europe in vans or car and trailers?

From 21 May 2022, UK based transport & logistics companies will need a standard international goods vehicle operator licence to transport goods in the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland. This will apply for any business based in Great Britain or Northern Ireland that use vans, and other light goods/light commerical vehicles, vans towing trailers, and cars towing trailers, if being used for hire or reward.

In order to comply, business will need to either add the vehicles to their goods vehicle operator licence (if they already have one), or get a goods vehicle operator licence for the first time. This will be a landmark change, and just one of the effects on UK transport in the wake of Brexit.

What will this mean for Transport 29?

At present these rules are only applicable to businesses that are using their vehicles outside of the UK, and only for goods being tranported for commerical basis (for hire or reward). Transport 29 are fully equipped for any future legislation changes, with fully qualified members of the team with CPC and Operators License in place. In short, this means we won’t need to make any changes to our operations, and as the business grows, we’ll continue to grow our fleet, to further serve our loyal, local customers with a wider variety and size of vehicles.
