Charity Bike Ride for Movember
We must be mad…
During the first week of November, from Monday 3rd to Friday 7th, we will (hopefully) be completing a 600km virtual bike ride from the London Eye to the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin. The distance will be covered on an exercise bike in the office, and all funds raised will go towards supporting Movember. Each of Teige, Harry and Jordan will need to complete 200km individually to hit their combined target.
None of us within the office are cyclists, but we chose to do a virtual cycle in the office for a few different reasons. Firstly, and most importantly, we wanted to raise awareness and money for a great cause. Secondly, exercise is one of many things you can do which can be good for mental health. Finally, holding an event like this starts conversations and if it helps one person to talk, raises money for one person to get support through treatment or even just brings a smile to someone else to hear about us all suffering with sore legs, bums and the smell of sweat in the office, it will have been worthwhile.
Men die on average 4.5 years earlier than women, and largely from preventable causes. Around 10.8 million men globally are facing life with a prostate cancer diagnosis and amongst young men, testicular cancer is more common globally. Every minute of every day, one man around the world dies by suicide, with males making up 69% of all suicides worldwide. Movember is helping to tackle all those issues and more, and that’s why we’re supporting them and asking for your donations as we tackle a mammoth cycle from London to Dublin.
Check out the Movember website for more details on what they do and how they’re changing the face of men’s health. Link here: 👇
All donations will be very gratefully received and make a difference, however big or small. Thank you in advance. To donate, click the button below: 👇
